Bewl Bridge Flyfishers’ Club – Match Fixtures
The season kicks off with the Bank Competition in April, which offers an excellent opportunity for novice anglers to learn the basics of casting and connect with others to improve their catch rate.
In early June, the Boat Competition takes place. In this event, inexperienced anglers are paired with expert anglers, making it a great social occasion. Participants will learn how to fish from a boat, set up a drift, and experiment with different fly lines.
The season concludes with the Fur and Feather Match in November. This special gathering is a fun way to celebrate the year’s achievements and look ahead to the holiday season.
All BBFC club matches are light-hearted social events, providing a relaxed environment for young and novice anglers to grow and learn about fly fishing. These matches are perfect stepping stones for those interested in more competitive tournaments, such as the AMFC, where you can represent Bewl and fish at prestigious reservoirs like Rutland, Chew, and Grafham. The National Finals, a highly competitive fly fishing competition, requires participants to excel in preliminary qualifiers for a chance to represent England and earn the coveted top prize: a cap.
Fishing Rules:
Fishing will adhere to international loch-style rules, unless otherwise stated differently on the day:
